Anthony Wrigley, M. Osteo Med, Bach. Clin. Sc (Osteo)
Osteopathic Manual Therapist
Anthony is a non-physician osteopathic manual practitioner who trained and practiced in Australia in multidisciplinary clinics before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a Bachelor of Clinical Science in Osteopathic Studies, Human Structure and Function, and a Master in Osteopathic Medicine from the Southern Cross University in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia. Anthony is also a member of The American Academy of Osteopathy.
He treats patients of all ages who are suffering from aches and pains caused by simple and complex life stressors. He regularly sees patients with workplace, sports and other injuries; issues arising from poor posture, physical demands related to pregnancy and postpartum; and challenges associated with chronic health conditions, including acute flare-ups.
Anthony’s gentle approach to treatment is grounded in continuous education and a deep understanding of traditional Osteopathic principles. During Osteopathic manual therapy (OMT), he uses a variety of techniques, including Osteopathy in the cranial field, specific postural positioning, light compression or distraction, gentle stretching, rocking, oscillation, articulation, and mobilization. He combines these techniques with precise pressure, gentle resistance, and a soft, supportive touch. Throughout treatment, Anthony closely observes and works with the breath and physiological rhythms to restore ease of movement, improve function, and reduce pain and discomfort.
The beauty of Osteopathy lies in its ability to positively impact the body’s bio-tensegrity and physiology by normalizing the negative effects of stresses and strains of daily life. Anthony is fascinated by how the body senses and responds to mechanical forces during Osteopathic treatment and how it converts these forces into electrical and chemical signals that influence the biochemistry and gene expression of the body. With Osteopathic treatment, the body’s tensional integrity and physiology are guided back towards optimal health and well-being.
He is passionate about working with the body as a whole, working to identify and address the root causes of pain and dysfunction. He finds fulfillment in helping patients along their journey back to health, which ultimately brings them closer to fostering a deeper relationship with their body, mind & spirit triune.
