“To find health should be the object of the doctor. Anyone can find disease.”

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on manual therapy that treats various ailments and is an appropriate treatment for all ages. Unlike other healing modalities, Non Physician osteopaths examine the entire body to find the underlying cause of an issue rather than treating the symptoms of pain or discomfort. Using their hands, they can feel the body’s intricate and complicated systems and work to improve alignment, blood flow, and nerve supply to affected and injured areas, decreasing pain and dysfunction.

All systems of the body are intricately connected, therefore, when one system has an ailment or dysfunction, the other systems are impacted.

For example, a patient could come in with neck pain. Upon examination, the practitioner could find that the misalignment of the pelvis is causing the spine to be out of balance, and the neck is compensating as a result. By addressing these disturbances through gentle manual therapy, osteopathic treatments restore harmony and create an environment for the body to heal.

Practitioners are also able to find the cause of less obvious complaints. For example, insomnia, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, endocrine issues, autoimmune conditions, digestive disturbances, and trauma stored in the body from birth or life experiences.

A treatment consists of a detailed review of your health history, a biomechanical assessment, hands-on manual therapy, and a treatment plan based on these findings. Each treatment is unique to the individual, on average, patient’s feel some shift in their body within 1-3 treatments, depending on the issue and how long it’s been present.
